ABOUT MONUMENT’S FOR VILEISIAI BROTHERS IDEA: |
|
The idea of monument is spatial composition of three minimalistic elements, creating impression of open park gates, which in this place symbolize three important Lithuanian personalities - Petras Vileisis, Antanas Vileisis, Jonas Vileisis. This sculptural composition can be perceived not only as gates to the park, but also as three open pages of Lithuanian history book. During creation of this monument it was purposefully sought to encode in the sculpture wide spectrum of associations: "open gates", "road", “doors”, "direction", "space", "time", "open book", "sign", "solidity", "history and present", etc. This sculpture is also perceived not only observing it from outside, but also from its internal space – a person who enters inside of sculpture can experience states of space changing and so become not just observer, but also participant of the process. The idea was to create a sculpture, which would be not only metaphorical symbol, but also functional object – in this case it is gates of small park.
